Town & Country was the Principle Business Partner for Young Start Up West Kent, which was launched in October 2012, with the final taking place in June 2013. Young Start Up Talent’s aim is to encourage other entrepreneurs to start up their own business, offering the knowledge and expertise of a panel of professionals and local business specialists who are the judges and sponsors. The winner is determined following a ‘Dragon’s Den’ style final in each area, the prize fund for the winner is £50,000 worth of products and services to help launch and support the winner over the year. The other finalists are linked to businesses for training and support.
Mohammad Abusayed from Tunbridge Wells was chosen as winner of the Young Start Up West Kent. Mohammad’s SMT Trading UK Limited hires out linen based products such as table slips, napkins, chef jackets and aprons as well as selling their own branded hot towels. They also provide a laundry service to businesses such as restaurants, hotels and banqueting halls.
The Foundation has supported Young Start-Up Talent with a part-time member of staff. In the West Kent region, 12 schools have been visited with over 200 students present during an assembly or specific workshop (circa 2,400 16-25 year olds).
